Always ensure that the heating capacity of your fireplace should be as per the British Thermal Units. As stated by the Salt River Power Company, heater of a 1-ton (12,000 BTU) capacity can provide sufficient heat for 400 - 500 square feet of living space.

Make sure you choose a heater as per your room size. A too large heater will make you feel too warm while a heater that is too small will not give sufficient heat.

Choose fireplace as per the energy efficiency ratings. As stated by Salt River Power, you should always consider the heater which is having a minimum EER of 13.

The fireplaces are available with both manual and timer operated. Evaluate all the options to known what works best for you before choosing a fireplace for you.
