How To Decorate The Staircase

Staircases of your home are often unattended when it comes to decorating your home. Staircases often have broad and tall walls, making them intimidating places to decorate. If decorated and designed imaginatively, a stairway can easily be made the most attractive feature of a house or building. Look at a staircase's expansive wall space and nooks as an opportunity to display additional artwork or items that don't work well in other parts of the home's decor. Here are some tips with the help of which you can adorn the old staircase in your house in various simple ways.

 
Use your favorite photographs to decorate the staircase walls. Pick a theme, such as travel photos, and put them in identical frames. Hang the photos on the wall following the angle or curve of the staircase. You can also have pictures of you after having won some competition, in a wedding party snap, family get-togethers and so on.
 
If your staircase is wide enough then you can decorate it with potted plants and flowers. After placing these plants, there should be enough space left for people to pass comfortably. You can use small ornamental flowers for this purpose. However it's better to avoid it if there are small kids in your home.
 
You can also use a staircase as a bookshelf. The space beneath the staircase can be used for this purpose. You can arrange the books neatly along the stairs alternatively.
 
You can also use handicrafts to decorate your stairway. You can hang beautiful masks on the walls or arrange baskets at regular intervals or position a medium sized statue where the staircase ends.
 
You can also hang a horizontal painting on a staircase wall. Staircases often have large amounts of wall space, making them a perfect spot for hanging odd-shaped artwork that often won't fit on other walls.
