How To Do Lawn Edging

Lawn edging is the most effective and simplest way to keep the spreading of grass of your lawn in control by providing a definite edge to the lawn. Edging keeps the soil in place and also keep the soil nourished and moistened. Moreover lawn edging also reduces the requirement of mowing for your garden if done properly.

Given below are few tips which will help you in effective edging of your lawn. Please leave me a comment and share your experiences of creating lawn edging.

Choose from wood, brick, plastic or metal edging which one you would like to install for your lawn. Properly measure the area where you want to apply the edging.

Dig a channel in the region where you are going to do the edging. Take away all the excess soil in order to give a uniform depth in order for edging.

Spin the plastic or metal edging on the area to be edged. To every 5 feet of your edged ground add stakes.

Drive the pointed end of the stakes into the "V" formed at the bottom of the edging. Hammer the bent section of the stake at a small angle until the stake lies along the bottom of the trench.

In the channel place the non-plastic types of edging and use stones/wood pieces to bring it as close as possible.

Now pack the edging by placing the soil around it. Water the soiled area which will help the soil and edging to settle down properly.

The edged area would sink in sometime, ad more soil to make it even and uniform. Always try to give your edge a uniform appearance by continuous addition of soil.
