How To Keep Roses Fresh

After you cut the roses from their stems, their life tends to shorten. But having them decorated in the vase, it becomes a task to keep the roses fresh and alive for a longer time and prevent them from wilting. Their proper care after they have been placed in the vase also makes a lot of difference. The following tips can help you keep the roses fresh for as long as a week. Follow the instructions carefully.

Different flowers have different life spans once they have been detached from their root plant. But there are outer elements too that are instrumental in reducing their life. One such problem is bacteria which happens to be their biggest enemy. Once bacteria starts to grow inside the vase, it prevents the roses from taking the sufficient water intake that is required to keep them fresh. This is one of the reasons why flowers wilt.

The next step would be how to stop the bacteria growth. So before you get started to place the roses in the vase, make sure you clean it thoroughly and then dry it out. There should be no residue or left overs of the previous plant or flower. This reduces the growth of the bacteria.

Prepare roses to decorate in the vase. You can do this by removing all the extra leaves that might fall into the water inside the vase. The reason being that then the leaf will rot in the water which will in turn increase the activities of the bacteria.

Now cut rose stems from the bottom. This will enable flowers to take the water they require and even allow them to breath. This will also prevent bacteria from growing and spoiling the flowers.

Keep changing the water every few days. Clean water keeps the roses fresh.

You may also add salt to the fresh water. Salt helps in keeping the flowers fresh.
