How To Remove Foul Odor From Your Dishwasher

After neglecting proper dishwasher cleaning for a long time you will surely notice foul odor coming from your dishwasher. This foul odor is coming because of unhygienic food particles, soap scum’s, grease and other items which were left un-cleaned for a long time. Dishwasher washes your dishes but all the food particles goes to the dishwasher’s inner area which also requires routine cleaning.

In this article i am going to tell you how you can clean your dishwasher to remove foul odor. Please leave me a comment and share your experiences of removing unbearable odor away from your dishwasher.

In general the reason for the foul smell in your dishwasher is the clogging of food particles in the drainage. So the first step for removing the smell is to clear the drainage with the debris and food particles.

Baking Soda –
Sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda on the bottom of the dishwasher. For effective results it is advisable to sprinkle the baking soda all around the drainage.

White Vinegar-
Add 1 ½ cup of distilled white vinegar into the bottom of your dishwasher. This will facilitate the removal of food particle as white vinegar and baking soda combines to form a bubble which will push out the food particles.

Warm Tape Water –
To wash the vinegar and baking soda solution into the drain add or pour empty 3 cups of warm tap water into the bottom of the dishwasher.

Now run your dishwasher to the normal wash cycle and check if any smell persists.

In case your dishwasher has a foul smell till now place one cup of baking soda in a small bowl and place it on the top shelf of your empty dishwasher. Leave the baking soda overnight in the dishwasher with closed door to remove all the remaining foul smell from the dishwasher.
