Tips For Buying An Air Conditioner

When the temperature in the summer goes high then first thing that comes into mind is buying an air conditioner. There are two types of air conditioners in the market. A window air conditioner and a split air conditioner. A window air conditioner is the kind of big box which can be fixed in the window and split unit hooks onto the wall. When you are going to buy an air conditioner, there are so many things to be taken care of. In this guide, I am going to give you some tips for buying an air conditioner. I hope this guide will help you in making selection.

First decide what type of system you required. If you are living in an apartment then window air conditioner is best for you. But if there is no window in your room or your window is small or for some reason it cannot be fitted in your window then you should buy a split air conditioner. There is one drawback with split air conditioner. The cost of split air conditioner is high as compared to window air conditioner. So be sure with your budget before buying split air conditioner.

Choose the size of the system. Proper sizing is very important for effective cooling. It is not necessary that a big unit is always better. A big unit will not cool an area uniformly. A smaller unit usually run for an extended period operates more efficiently and is more successful.

If you are placing your air conditioner in the corner of the room then choose a unit with airflow in the desired direction for your room layout.

Be sure about your house’s electrical system which must meet the system’s power requirements. Generally, room units operate on 230-volt circuits. If room units rated at 230 volts then it must require a dedicated circuit with a Circuit breaker Switch known as mechanical circuit breaker (MCB), which protects the wiring from getting burnt by switching off the air conditioner.

Choose a unit whose filters slides out easily so that it can be clean easily. For effective output, clean the filter frequently.

There should be a logically arranged controls, a digital readout for thermostat setting and built-in timer.

Always choose the system with higher energy efficient ratio (EER). Higher the EER, the consumption of electricity will be less. The cost of this system can be high but in the long run it is less expensive.
