Bone china most of us think is a glass work by the hard working Chinese. But bone china belongs to England to the era of Josiah Spode (1754-1827). It is nothing but bone ash added to the procedure of porcelain. It results in the most durable and remarkable porcelain. 

A delicious dinner served in a fine, sparkling bone china adds to an exquisite experience. Owning and gifting this extraordinary crockery is a matter of pride for most of us. Fine bone china is breakable and if not handled with care chips, cracks or breaks are possible. Following precautions while washing are essential-
 
Care needs to be taken while handling the delicate crockery in steel sinks with metal taps. If it slips from your hand on the hard surface, there are chances of breakage.
 
Do not rub it with metal scrubbers it may leave scratches on the surface. Instead gently wash with lukewarm water to remove stains.
 
Gilded part of the piece should not be scrubbed while cleaning. Instead use a cotton swab or soft toothbrush.
 
If dish washer is used strong caustic detergents should be avoided. Also avoid excessive use of detergent. Keep the maximum temperature at 650 degrees Celsius or 1400 degree Fahrenheit.
