Tips To Decorate Your Christmas Tree

Here comes the Christmas! The most awaited period in the year. Elaborately adorned Christmas trees are often the focal point of homes during the holiday season, and decorating the tree is a family tradition for many. Everybody wants their Christmas tree to be one of the best in the season. Here you can learn some tips on decorating your Christmas tree.

 
Christmas trees are usually decorated with a variety of ornaments such as toys, candies, baubles and nosegays. Garlands, ribbons and light strands give it a magical touch. All the embellishments make it look special and unique.
 
The decoration can start by using the lights first. Sparkle and shine comes primarily from the tree lights. Though you can illuminate your Christmas tree in a number of ways, it would look attractive only if you arrange it in a proper way.
 
Faceted glass bulbs will refract more light and appear brighter. Layer the lights and pair them with ornaments that have reflective surface. Start arranging the lights from the base of the trunk and then move upwards, to the top of the tree. Wrap the lights around every major branch. This way you'll be able to give a sparkling effect to your tree. Experiment with different lighting schemes until you get one which you like.
 
Ornaments are the major part of your tree's decoration. Ball ornaments are widely used to decorate the Christmas trees. The placement of the ball ornaments is an important thing to be considered. Do not hang all the balls at the tips of the branches, because the branches will bend downwards due to the weight at the tips. Therefore place the ornaments at the innermost branches of the tree, to add depth and interest to it.
 
You can also use expensive ornaments such as bird nests, painted fruits, music notes, toy alphabets, costume jewelery pieces along with the cheaper ones such as candies, cookies, baubles, berries, glittery boughs and pine cones. Place the expensive set of ornaments on tips of boughs and keep the cheaper ones inside the tree to add depth to it.
 
Garlands are also used for the decoration of Christmas trees. Garlands of both fresh and silk flowers are used for decoration. There are no firm rules while draping a garland on the tree. Start at the top, and then go towards the bottom by moving from branch to branch. Ensure that you make use of garlands only after you have finished adorning your tree with the rest of embellishments. This is because garlands are usually used for giving a final touch to the Christmas tree.
 
Don't forget to add the topper to your tree. A topper is what sits at the top of the Christmas tree. The topper tends to be the focus of the tree and one of the first things that people see. While most of the people imagine stars and angels as the toppers, you are not limited to only these two choices. There are variety of beautiful toppers available in the market. Just choose one which you like and which best suits your personality.
 
Finally comes the Christmas tree skirt. Without a Christmas tree skirt, you will find yourself staring at a very ugly brass or tree stand. Your skirt should be large enough to cover the tree stand but not be so long that people trip over it.
