Tips To Make Your Home Eco-friendly

With increasing tensions of global warming throughout the world, it has become every individual's responsibility to contribute on their parts to save the earth from the effects of global warming. As it is said, "Charity begins at home", we can start the cause by making our home eco-friendly. Here are some tips to make your home eco-friendly.

Change the light bulbs at home. Energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs are now available in the market in all shapes and sizes. These bulbs not only help in energy conservation but also help to cut down your electricity bills. Thus, you can save money as well as the environment.

Always have two dustbins. One for organic wastes which is recyclable and one for non-organic wastes. Organic wastes consists of fruit and vegetable peel, used tea leaves, leftover food, etc. and non-organic wastes consists of tin, plastic, etc. The organic waste forms a rich compost and can be used for the soil in your garden

You can save water by following some simple steps such that :-

1) Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth

2) While leaving from home, make sure that you turn off all the taps and the switches.

3)Collect rainwater for your garden. A water butt fitted to an external pipe will soon fill up and give you a good supply of water for your garden.

Switching off an electrical appliance by using a remote control merely puts it on standby mode. It still uses the electricity. So, any appliance which is not in use should be switched off at the power switch. This will help to conserve energy and save your money as well.

You can have indoor plants. Plants are extremely eco-friendly and can also be used as home decor. They add greenery and also purify the air inside by giving out oxygen. Don't forget to show them some sunlight periodically or else the plants will wither.

You can install solar panels to create your on energy. You can have solar water heaters, solar cookers, solar lamps, etc. which use solar energy to work and thus help you save the electrical energy.

Use environment friendly products. For example, use vinegar to clean the house instead of using some chemical cleaners. Chemical cleaners release some chemicals in the environment thus degrading it. You can add some baking soda to vinegar to make a very good cleaner.

Recycle paper. It is very well known that paper comes from the wood of the trees which leads to deforestation. This has created a havoc for the environment. You can recycle the paper at your home by writing on both sides of the paper, using the leftover pages in children's notebook for rough works and so on. You can buy products made from recycled papers.

Reduce the use of polythene and aerosol products as far as possible. Use eco-friendly room fresheners or aromatic candles instead of using aerosol canned artificial ones.

By turning eco-friendly, you are not only saving the environment but also saving your money. "Go Green".
