Types Of Humidifiers For Your Home

Humidifiers are used for adding moisture in the air. Humidifiers are necessary in areas where the air is very dry or in houses where the air is dry because of the heating. Dry air creates many problems. Because of the dry air many people can suffer from asthma. Dry air also destroys the wooden floor and wooden furniture. The main benefit of better humidity is warm mist, since a humidifier makes the air warmer and decreases the heating costs. There are vast varieties of humidifiers available in the market. So before buying a humidifier, you should decide that whether you want to go for a cool-mist humidifier or a warm mist humidifier. The size of the humidifier should also be taken into consideration. You should choose the humidifier depending upon the size of your room. In this guide, I am going to tell you about the different types of humidifier. I hope this guide would help you in making an appropriate selection.

Warm Mist Humidifiers – These humidifiers heat the water and eject steam into the room. These are also known as vaporizers. Generally if you are suffering from congestion, you can add some medication to steam humidifiers and inhale that steam. This will relieve the congestion. Such types of humidifiers are best for cold weather. There are some drawbacks of warm mist humidifiers. They consume more electricity but compared to cool mist humidifiers, they are slightly quieter. The chances of growth of bacteria in warm mist humidifiers are high. So, these humidifiers are needed to be cleaned frequently. Because of the warm water, there is a risk of a person getting accidentally burnt.

Evaporative Humidifier – This is one of the cool air humidifiers. This is a very common humidifier that emits cool mist. These humidifiers produce mist which involves water being blown through a wet pad or wick filter by a fan. One of main advantages of evaporative humidifiers is that they consume less energy as compared to warm mist humidifiers. There are some advanced model humidifiers which contain antibacterial filters. But they also require regular cleaning.

Impeller Humidifier – These are also one of the cool air humidifiers. There is a fan to blow water through a diffuser to produce fine droplets. The one major drawback of this humidifier is that there is no filter and because of that bacteria is spread in the air with the mist. They also scatter the minerals present in the water which settles down as white dust all over the house. You can use de-mineralized water to fill them up. The cost of such humidifiers is less compared to evaporative humidifiers.

Ultrasonic Humidifiers – This is one of the two-in-one humidifiers available in the market. This is most advanced version of all humidifiers. The feature of either cool or warm humidification makes them a favorite for many people. These use high frequency vibrations to dissipate water into the air.
